ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE

Dear Editor,
RE : CREATING MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY
        FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE
I am writing this letter to give some of my views regarding how we can make the school more environmentally friendly.
I think that the school is being polluted by littering along the corridors, inside the classrooms and various other points in the school. I would like to suggest that dustbins should be placed at various points so as to reduce littering around. We should be more cautious in the manner in which we use water ; for example, we must make sure that we close the taps after using them and we must also strive to maintain them to avoid frequent leakages. We should minimise the use of plastic and polythene bags. We must make sure that all the sources of electricity are switched off, for example, computers in the lab and tube lights in class, before we leave.
I think that it would be quite good if we can plant a few trees in the school field. I think that we can reuse papers rather than throwing them away. We may collect things that can be recycled and forward those items for being recycled, on a weekly basis. We should introduce awards for the cleanest class to encourage students to keep their environment clean.  To sum up, I think we should strive to keep our environment clean and to use resources in a sustainable way.
I hope the Principal, the Management, the students, teachers and support staff take this into consideration. I look forward to creating a "greener" school.
                                          Your sincere student,
                                          Ritu Karania,
                                          Year 11
