HAUNTED HOUSE
The dense cloud cover
slowly dissipated to unravel what would only be seen once in a while, a blood
moon. The freezing temperatures saw nearly ponds crystallizing and forming a sturdy
thick sheet of slippery ice. The absence of leaves on the deciduous trees in the Bavarian forest allowed bone –
chilling gusts to rush through, further intensifying the feeling of the brutal
winter.
The scintillating
moonlight was so intense that even single strands of hair casted pricking
shadows. In the midst of the lifeless forest stood a mysterious patch of clear land.
At the heart of it, a two storied devastated mansion stood- the pickets standing
as a barrier were infested by brown patches, clearly visible in the cloudless
light.
As one would progress
from the boundary of the structure to the front door, hordes of maggots would
rise from the rubbles. As one would
push open the door the warmth of the building would prove to be the first trap
to attract potential victims. The grand chandeliers hanging from the top,
almost topping over, yet held an external flame that dimly lit the immediate
vicinity. Cobwebs littered around the vertices and corners of the ceiling trapped dozens of
moths. Some dead, the others yet trembling to escape.
The howls of wolves
echoed all over the spacious, dusty corridors. A step into the wrong room would
end up being one’s last. The creeks of flying insects which littered the
majority of the open spaces could even break sweat of the bravest adventures.
Although no visible clues were evident due to poor lighting, the building
seemed to be mainly empty, as even a small footstep would echo all around the
puzzling maze.
