bright sky

The clear blue bright sky
The beautiful blue sky
Brings a smile to your face
Signaling a new fresh day for you
There is a feeling of joy every morning
Makes you feel free like a baby

Feel the cool breeze pass by
It's another great day for you
Do , what you like doing best
Makes the  day,

Happy and great day to you!

LIFE EVERLASTING ?

LIFE EVERLASTING ?
Life everlasting? Desire ever wanting?
Paintings on a wall, shimmered  in the dark fog
Light seeping in, emulating the rising call
Pitch dorks and fine demanding my fall

Quiet the liar’s!  out spoken the  dividers;
Dispute the reminder, but never be the liar.
Driven with fire, left to burn entire
Reasons with no domineer, all at most the bitter fear.

Interrogate my interior? To deteriorate my exterior
Discriminate through one ear, out the other
The domineer, rectifying the problematic concealed
Only to find it, lost in the rear

A pulsing heart, driven by fear
Gives off, none the less few tears
Left to consider, all at best;
Unbearable life , apart from death

EDUCATION - EVERY INDIVIDUAL'S RIGHT!

EDUCATION - EVERY INDIVIDUAL'S RIGHT!

Have you ever wanted to be famous, to know answers the way you know lyrics?
Well, education is the key. It's basically a process of learning, teaching and training. It includes : academics, sports, co-cirricular activities, and morals and values. It's importance we all know, but here are a few key points:

• The art of playing with words aids to paint the canvas of hearts with different perspectives .

• It gives you the roots of independence that anchor you to the world, keeping your stem from wilting towards the light of favour.

• It's a ticket to the synonym of success.

• It empowers you with the right to freely dream with the assurance that you'll be able to fulfill all your dreams. You can be the doctor, the artist, the writer, the musician... name the person and the title you've always wanted.

• It nurtures your inner self to quench its thirst for good morals and core values.

• It bestows you with the right to explore life, to discover more about things than merely knowing their surface meanings.

To conclude, education is the sculptor that moulds the clay of your basics to a pot of your foundation to which every experience counts.

BRILLIANCE AGAINST MEDIOCRITY

WHAT SEPARATES BRILLIANCE AND MEDIOCRITY.

You may ask yourself what does it even mean to be brilliant, is it when the whole world is praising your golden talent? Is it having a Wikipedia article titled with your name? Or is it to believe in yourself and being bold enough for everyone to know?

For  me , the key is to  believe in yourself  and loving yourself  for  who you are; not the person  you  desire to be , or  the fake mask  you have  applied . you don’t  have  to try  and fit  in everywhere  and feel undeserved  by attempting to validate  yourself. Most importantly, you don’t need to be perfect, no one is! You are the best version of yourself the way nature designed you.

But what if I think that others don’t see the potential in me? What if I let the whole world look at my imperfections? and  what if people  don’t like the real me, they only like  the perfect , projected hero  who is strong, never  does  anything wrong and cares  for everyone ? If you encounter such feeble thoughts, unfortunately you think wrong.

The invisible barrier of mediocrity is in your way, the same border which separates the average Joe from the dazzling geniuses. You must first be who you really are, and do what you need to do in order to have what you really want. You can decide to follow the common route and lead a safe life the way everyone else does. On the contrary , you may take the road less travelled , go through various ups and downs, and reach the top  and prove your significance , but  only if  you are persistent enough.

Mediocrity is the brittle element  holding you back from expressing yourself, mediocrity is  what is telling you to play it  safe  and  not  risk it, mediocrity is what is not  letting  you take  your next big step  for  a journey of a lifetime. Remember, your success is not a destination, but rather a journey with several, mysterious twists and turns.

On the other hand, to be brilliant is to work on weaknesses and capitalizing them into strengths, to be brilliant is to love your flaws and embrace them. To be brilliant is to believe that you can do things considered astronomical by the masses. Most importantly, to be brilliant is to let go of who you are supposed to be.

Do not forget that , to climb to the summit, you will face many struggles. When you do encounter one, just recall that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.  The only way you can do this is by embedding in yourself a winning mentality- you may not win always, and when you do fall remember to spring up immediately. Your obstacles are your guiding stone towards great brilliance.

So look towards the bright side, propel yourself towards the stars and never look back and regret things you could have done. Dash through the wall of mediocrity, which if not broken early enough can engulf you in its dark shadows

DESERT

DESERT
As the temperature soared until we could feel our blood boiling. The fiery sun had attained its maximum height and dry sweltering winds swooshed from one end of the horizon to the other. Not even a wisp of cloud was   there to soften the harsh sun rays which scorched our skin.

Salty sweat rolled down our face, dripping endlessly from the nose and the chin. Our eyelashes saturated, until the weight of the sweat trickled down and sharply stung the eyes, turning them blood red. My summer shirt and trousers got overwhelmingly sticky and hot, drenching every single part of my body in discomfort. The blowing sand accumulated in my hair, making them stiff like cactus thorns. My tongue felt being covered in dry sand, and the lower lip cracking in the zero humidity atmospheres.

The rippling sand upon one another stretched as far as our vision would allow us, rolling upon one another. Nothing else was seen in the relatively flat land, not even a speck of rock or any signs of human civilization. The sky was a solid shade of light blue all over with no variations. The heart escaping the shimmering sand along with the heat from the sun sandwiched us in an open sauna.
As sweat dripped from my face onto the sand, it would evaporate in a matter of two to three seconds. On the edge of the barren land, satisfying mirages formed. So unfortunate were we that we could only dream of an oasis with lush, velvety grass, forgetting that we yet had seven more days till we could refill our water bottles.

THE NIGHTMARE LANDSCAPE

THE NIGHTMARE LANDSCAPE
Patrick is a middle class working man who works at a factory which is located at the Far East outside Juba town. While venturing his way to the factory, he usually   sees a tall, majestic colorful house with no one inside. He has always been curios to find out what this house has in it and whose house it was.

There was no wind, no cloud, just sub zero temperature. He drove his car down the long stretch of a road as he was doing some sight seeing of the winter leaves. The roads were just narrow with seemingly no life; finally he arrived at his destination. He parked his black car and hoped out of the car.

The house shocked him more at a close range. It   was one of the finest things he had ever seen in his entire life. The window panes glimmered from the gate and the door was made from woods from the most wanted trees in Amazon. Curiosity stroked his nerves and he was more in a hurry to see what was inside the house. As he walked majestically to the main entrance, he realized that it was too quiet. But this did not stop him from entering inside the house.

Patrick lifted the door clap and in a blink of an eye, he found himself in a room and the door behind was shut. The house had long grass with crumpled yellow birch and he saw more than twenty grave yards from a distance. Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw. He felt a cold shiver all over his body. His legs were stuck in one position and he could not move. As minutes ticked by, drops of water were pouring down on him and this made him more frightened.

He stood and peered at the top wondering if a twisted head person would crawl down and have him for dinner. Patrick summoned strength and tiptoed away from that room trying to find an exit door. But the room was just going round and round and at the end he found himself at the same position he was last in.

Finally he found a door but it was not giving way easily. He struggled to open this door. A howl echoed throughout the house. The door clap opened and he ran outside the house, into his car and drove away. It was the most frightening experience he has ever been in. He promised himself not to venture into any strange houses in future.

DILAPIDATED HOUSE

DILAPIDATED HOUSE
Standing vulnerability in the aftermath of the gruesome civil war , is the  rubble which  I once called home. The dust from the devastation sharply poked my lungs, at the same time triggering nostalgia.

The ceiling had all disappeared, the metal framework protruding   out of the grey cement which was once a wall. The designed tiles cracked like an asymmetric cobweb, and tangled electrical wires drooping from the walls easily able to cause a short circuit. Who would even say that this property once belonged in the most luxurious part of the city?

Bullet holes carried deep onto the wall , it  being unimaginably circular in shape. The edges of the walls were hit so severely that they had rounded up, exposing what lies below the cream – colored plaster. Broken chairs, tables and beds infiltrated the already congested floor. Lichens and mosses had found a warm, conducive shelter on the bottom indented corners, whose dirty green shades deterred anyone from going close to it.

As I walked through the unforgotten corridor , the  sole of my foot crunched  numerous  tiny fragments of glass which  flew  out of the  cracked window  panes , overlooking several similar properties. Tree branches grew into the house through these windows, blocking the pathway in the middle.

Surprisingly , some framed pictures yet hung firmly on the crumbled walls of the dark alley , the only one yet protected by the  half – hanging ceiling. Traversing through the broken bricks and walls, the pictures were something that finally brought little relief to this heart, damaged just like the deserted structure.

HAUNTED HOUSE

HAUNTED HOUSE
The dense cloud cover slowly dissipated to unravel what would only be seen once in a while, a blood moon. The freezing temperatures saw nearly ponds crystallizing and forming a sturdy thick sheet of slippery ice. The absence of leaves on the deciduous   trees in the Bavarian forest allowed bone – chilling gusts to rush through, further intensifying the feeling of the brutal winter.

The scintillating moonlight was so intense that even single strands of hair casted pricking shadows. In the midst of the lifeless forest stood a mysterious patch of clear land. At the heart of it, a two storied devastated mansion stood- the pickets standing as a barrier were infested by brown patches, clearly visible in the cloudless light.

As one would progress from the boundary of the structure to the front door, hordes of maggots would rise from the rubbles. As   one would push open the door the warmth of the building would prove to be the first trap to attract potential victims. The grand chandeliers hanging from the top, almost topping over, yet held an external flame that dimly lit the immediate vicinity. Cobwebs littered around the vertices and   corners of the ceiling trapped dozens of moths. Some dead, the others yet trembling to escape.

The howls of wolves echoed all over the spacious, dusty corridors. A step into the wrong room would end up being one’s last. The creeks of flying insects which littered the majority of the open spaces could even break sweat of the bravest adventures. Although no visible clues were evident due to poor lighting, the building seemed to be mainly empty, as even a small footstep would echo all around the puzzling maze.

BEACH

BEACH
Under the scorching sunlight and the heavy gusts, our feet were sinking into the shallow, white sand. The rippling waves rolled upon and broke itself on the steep coastline, and the backflow of the salty water took vast amounts of freckled sands amid its energetic motion.

Our bare footsteps got imprinted upon the dense sand, which would only disappear when the waves would wash it ashore. The gleaming grainy sand was reflecting shimmering amounts of light, forming mirages towards the far end of the coastal strip. Dormant, spiny starfishes and seashells of all different shades were littered along the boundary the highest tide approached.

On both sides of the length of the coast, protruding rocky headlands appeared, followed by chalky arch, stumps and solitary stumps of rock in the middle of the sea. The palm trees were leaning upon each other   like exhausted men, the sound of their leaves shuffling upon one another echoing on the vertical dark brown cliffs all over the vicinity.

The salty fresh air tingled our nose linings occasionally, while the warm sand below gave satisfactory warmth.  Wave rolled and broke at our foot, forming a thick sticky sand layer on the palm of the foot; only discomfort coming from it being irritably stubborn below my long, dirty toenails.

STARRY NIGHT

STARRY NIGHT
The matte charcoal velvety sky above our heads was freckled by millions of milky white specks. Below on land, the cold midnight breeze froze us to our bones, intensified by the rapid heat loss due to the absence of heavy clods. It seemed as if Van Gogh himself came and stroke his brush unto the eternal canvas.

As we stared deeper into the nothingness of empty space, smaller stars would appear from the darker, null voids be in the half spaces of the bright lights. The Milky Way galaxy poured glowing, silvery milk at the centre of the sky scope, illuminating the backgrounds of its surroundings, along which humungous faint gas clouds seemed to appear between multiple clusters of stars.

It was better than any software imitation. I had come across, meeting the same stars which greeted our ancestors, and would continue over watching the future generation. The moon hung full and hazy beneath an eclipse of blazing stars, shinning mellow amounts of light effectively lighting up the land.

It seemed like I went high on drugs, the twinkling starlight suddenly seemed more like lamp posts. The intensity could be felt down to each and every optional nerve. The stereotypical dark night proved to be a thing of another time, as the current illumination was nothing close to a night in the middle of a jungle.

SUNSET

SUNSET
The intense yellow fireball finally traversed to its ultimate daily position, whereby its orange hues blended vividly into the merging skyline, just the way orange juice would release itself in a glass of  water  , silhouettes  of birds returning  to shelter  dominated the gorgeous scenery , as their melodic chirps  harmonized with the sinking  sun  which  took away  all our sorrows  and every day burdens.

We could only admire how heaven touched earth, as our wide eyes witnessed the resounding glowing collision.  Sparks lit the sky and darkness started pouring out, as the glory of paradise descended beyond the curvature of the planet. The canvas called sky flooded in hues of orange and red, bright enough to blind our sight and mellow enough to take it all.

Silver stars like the glowing embers of a dying fire winked down at us, vaguely illuminating the curtain of sky. the  sun was  already dipping below  the mountain crests  dimming the sky , although the  daylight  still lingered in the air as if  it  was accidentally left behind.

The sun was a perfect disc, only cut through its diameter by the edge of the world. The brilliant orb of amber   and tangerine sunk lower into the sky, as if being the boundary which pushed the fire towards the unknown. The mauve of the dusky sky intensified, and in just a while, the biggest star had set, giving way to a thousand others.

SUNRISE

SUNRISE
The sun sprung into life, gifting its petal to the world. Amid the dancing raindrops were the blush of scarlet, and the warmth of tangerine. Mellow blues and pinks blurred into a silver mist to create an eternal glow, as its hues ambitiously illuminated each crevice of visible land. Even when the world was sinking in grief and hardship, the sky reminded us otherwise.

As the gentle morning breeze brushed unto our skin, streaks of fire orange and amber rays bled into the sky, flawlessly melting into the already warm sky. The golden light trickled upwards from the undefined horizon, and onto the bejeweled cobwebs and grass.

The dew on the grass and the leaves shimmered like a mosaic mirror, dispersing the concentrated beams into melodious soft rays scattering all over the rumbled land. This ignited the much needed sparkle of the birds, who harmoniously chirped an explicit background melody never heard before.
On the west, the ebony sky littered with twinkling stars gradually got enlightened as they slowly dissipated into the invasion of the welcoming sunlight.  As the sun gracefully climbed up the  scarlet skyline , it  calmly besieged  the darkness from one vertices , consuming  the sky with sheer  ferocity , as it a horde  of protons invaded at the empty void.

TASTE FOR ADVENTURE

TASTE FOR ADVENTURE
The  sunrise  was  spectacular  that day .The  vivid  ruby and tangerine  streaks  that so often caressed the blue brow  of the  sky  were  hidden  behind the clouds . The sunlight seemed to dance across the trees weaving tongues of fire on every leaf. The hypnotic sway of the pines against the stark solidity of the solemn school and building enchanted all the students to a piercing silence. Drowning in the oceans of thought, I was brought back to reality by the resounding voice of our teacher calling us to the bus. This was to be a trip that reawakened our taste for adventure and seasoned our dull minds with a burst of flavor.

The bus was a medley of pungent smells of years of sweat, accompanied by the tinge of diesel wavering into the vehicle gave the air a rotten quality. The rust –encrusted casements and aisles bestowed the interior with some antiquated appearance. As more of my classmates clambered clumsily up the bus steps, the habitual clamor of the form fives descended upon the bus. Soon the atmosphere was bombarded with the throbbing sound of heavy hip hop music as the engine burst to life. The speakers caused vibrations that shock everyone into an amiable mood. Our voices intertwined in a harmonious distortion that unified the entire back row in song. The  familiar  melodies created  avenues for self expression  either  through incessant tapping  and clapping or bouncing rhythmically  as the  music  boomed  the bus trundled onto the road with  all  the ponderousness of a  tank.

To drain out the overwhelming high pitched sounds of a handful of girls and boys. Some students resorted to jamming earphones into their ears. Inevitably, the energy levels sank to an all time low that suffocated the initial tremulous sensation. the  rocky road surface hurled the bus to and fro  and the landscape  outside moved  along  with it the land seemed  to be  in constant motion as the  bus scuttled through interminable fields of corn  and grass . The open windows invited the rich aroma of earth into the vehicle. The stifling humility was cooled by the sweeping breeze but our hearts remained ablaze with passion and the prospect of adventure.

UNEXPECTED BIZARRE

UNEXPECTED BIZARRE
The sun was shinning above our heads as we were walking through umber, ancient forest. It reeked of age. Its woody incense was from centuries, of snapping branches crashing to the forest’s floor and rotting silently. The composting, organic smell rose up in waves like a miasma. Every sprawling tree we passed under reminded me of a watchful guardian, a silent sentinel of the groves.

We decided to venture deeper into the tangled heart of this primeval forest. We hoped that it would reveal its dark secrets to us. But the further we went, the more mystical it become. The monotony of this parched wilderness was difficult to explain. It was a crucible of death, a bone dry basin of vastness.

The immensely of  it burned into my brain  and  as  I looked up the trees  they seemed to be crisping under  the relentless rays  of  the sun . The arch of fairy tale – green above, was not there anymore as the sun was penetrating into the woods.

Shuffling noises come from deep in the interior, deadened   by the cunningly woven web of leaves . The deep, haunting ballad of its ancient   song called out to me. With a light heart, I plunged into the over arching vault of leaf and limb and into a waterfall. I did not expect it to look like that. The exquisiteness of the waterfall had not yet lanced to the lush green water pool below. It glided with deadly intent.  Its deadened sound and haunted glades poured into empty spaces. A sepulchral silence overhung the hallowed ground where the trees dared not to grow. The waterfall was Mediterranean blue   and non magical. It was pouring onto the rocks sadly.

This scene was really unsatisfactory. The fluty piping of a song bird split the silence just as the forest become flooded with light. I darted between shafts of lustrous gold light as I went admiring the butterflies. The pirouetted in the air , their  wings a whirr like little ripples of silk.
As I meandered back to the waterfall, a shiny spillway led to a choppier pond. Boulders colonized the age of the pond, buffed with pillows of mass. They caused a rocky gurgling as water  met  stone;  a swish , a clunk , a  swell  and a clop .when we were leaving ; I risked a  glance over  my shoulder.  The forest glade looked freeze frame perfect in the enhanced light.

THIS IS MY STORY!

           THIS IS MY STORY!

It was a totally new experience to visit Kadesh Barnea, a foster home, on Saturday, 20 January. Each child has his/her own unique story and all their stories touched us deeply. I was delighted to see that they all live together as one small family, where they are connected to each other by their hearts, and not by blood.

There, I met the youngest member of this family who was only 28 days old then. His name is Asha Shujaah. This little champ has faced challenges right from the time he opened his eyes to this world. After his birth, his mother had strangled him and thrown him in a pit latrine, where the maggots had peeled off his skin and he had also ingested some waste. He was revived after five days and immediately taken to hospital because he was extremely weak and also dehydrated. He was kept there for a few days, but due to lack of proper attention over there as well, he was brought to this happy home. For the first few days, his adopter Mum kept him in a pouch, attached to her so that he could feel loved and form a bond with her. He's given antibiotics and is, therefore, now slowly recovering, though the merciless strangle has imprinted a deep scar around his neck.

I'm glad to see Asha recovering and I hope that he'll soon be completely fine and lead a normal life like other children as well as have a bright future ahead. Furthermore, at a very tender age, these children have learnt to accept and to conquer life's challenges with a smile. They don't know where their next meal will come from or how their expenses will be paid for, but still you see a glow on their faces and their eyes shine with hope. The most important thing is that they all live happily together as a family. It was really worthwhile to spend time with these small children and to know about them. I hope to see them again very soon.

Year 2018

It has been a while , Welcome 2018, and enjoy our articles.

Work on time…hopefully

Work on time…hopefully
Ruin-calamities shattered me…I was seated in a public transport vehicle as I travelled back to Nakuru. The voyage was long and tedious with no breaks and my stomach began to curl from within. I had an action packed weekend with no breaks as I awaited the new release of my favorite anime, Dragon ball super a phizz-whizzing story as the Roald Dahl would describe it.
Though I felt incomplete as if I were forgetting something but it did not strike the gong yet for it the hols. A time to sit back and nullify all thoughts of homework. When we (my mom, my sister and I) had just arrived in Nakuru I thought about my adventures in Nairobi, it was a special day my aunt had just got married wishing her a happy wedded life.
In Nakuru I woke up at 8 am every morning an aberration of my normal school life of waking up at 5am eyes closed as anew born baby blindened by the ray that burst from the window panes. I just felt as if I was forgetting something what could it possibly be that hardened my heart to stone and the ache in my that withered and shriveled my sparkling notions.
Abruptly from nowhere I here my mum’s phone ringing it is right there in front of me if only I could reach it but… it keeps going further away why? Then suddenly I am drowning in water. I immediately woke up and rushed to my computer to type an article. That was what was giving me an ache. Ruin-calamities. The week when we closed school a group of ‘writers’ were given an assignment , rather biased, to write articles over the hols and I happened to forget a liability in me that I have been trying to rid.
