THEATRICS OF VITAL EVENTS

Tensions come up as students wait for their upcoming results which are scheduled to be released today. Some happy, some sad and some tensed for what seems to be glaring at them. Pupils have fought hard for their denied marks, which for some were not even added. Call it luck. Some pupils were given marks they don’t even deserve. Others shade genuine tears and others crocodile tears. Others with drooping necks were forced to go back to school as no marks seemed forthcoming.  Others who are very ‘naughty’ – as some teachers refer to them- because they take their parents to selected teachers to avoid being scolded or have their dirty linen aired out. Others with drooping necks are forced to go back to school as no marks seemed forthcoming.  Everyone should get a fair chance.

So the terror in me has been building up , not just because of exams, but here comes PTM. When it comes to Parents’ Teacher’s Consultation day, popularly known as PTM or ‘Papa and Teacher Meeting’, then pupils make awkward excuses to escape consultation.
Pupils lie to parents that the meeting is delayed. Pupils only meet teachers that they know will talk good about them. They fake sickness and behave like saints on the last day which is on Friday.  They act like people with very high level of courtesy and esteem. They either don’t take the letter home or become very good in front of teachers and parents.

On a positive note, Diwali is approaching. A festival of lights. Everyone should start a new year and consider it a new beginning, with renewed resolution. Improve  yourself,  this new year , never give  up on what you know you can  do, change your behavior , shake hands  with  your teachers  don’t let any complain  be left about you. Start loving your books and studies, work harder, and show your competitors what you really are. Look forward to a brighter future.
On behalf of the press club, we wish everyone a happy Diwali and for our Indian brothers and sisters a happy new year.
