MIRACULOUS SURVIVORS

MIRACULOUS SURVIVORS

There have been many injuries in the trenches, but none as  quite interesting as George Orwell;s narrow escape. The lucky soldier was wounded by a bullet which passed right through his neck. When interrogated, he had some interesting answers to give.

When asked about the incident on the spot , he replied ” it was  like being at the centre of an explosion. There seemed to be a loud bang and a blinding flash of light all around me, and I felt a tremendous shock, no pain, only a violent shock. “He believed it was nothing to blame others for , as it is very normal to be wounded in a war. He rather insisted he was quite perplexed to have survived such an event.

When I asked  his wife , Linda  about her thoughts  and feelings about the event, she replied “ I was extremely scared even of the thought of him getting wounded as I received a letter from  the trenches informing about his condition. I avoided, but tears were draining out of my eyes when he was brought home, I did not even have the courage to look at the wound. I was overwhelmed.
George , along his wife  and three children , lives  in Worchester . He is expected to return to the trenches in about four months time as  said  by his doctor, James Thompson.

Both George  and  his wife want to continue   living where  they are settled  ,and  when asked about their future, George replied “ I will be honored to serve in  the military until my last breath , I expect more such incidents , but that will not  shake  me off my feet. Linda added ” I will be as firm as possible  raising my children , while  George continues serving in the  military , and I want  my kids to realize that their father is very fearless and  selfless.
