ADDICTION

STANDINGUP FOR WHAT
YOU BELIEVE IN!

Everyone has their own beliefs, either related to religion, superstition and so
on. But do they really make an effort to support and emphasize on what they believe in?

We should be courageous enough to support our beliefs.  One of the

examples of a person who did this is our very own ‘Nelson Mandela’.We

all know people who are very adamant and vocal about sharing their

beliefs.Whenever you meet them in person, topics generally go straight to

those causes. If you are even remotely argumentative, you will spend the

whole evening arguing it out debate. Some situations call out for a firm

support of what you believe in.

I would like to conclude on this note;

‘Your beliefs become your thoughts,

Your thoughts become your words,

Your words become your actions,

Your actions become your habits,

Your habits become your values,

Your values become your destiny’

So be kin, and follow what your heart says is the right path...

A FRIEND?

WHY DO WE NEED A FRIEND?
A friend is the most precious gift anyone can be given in this world. Though you have no blood ties, you share the strongest relationship with them. The relation is valueless, special and unique.
A friend will never look at your outer beauty but consider the inner beauty. A true friend is one whom we can share any secrets and crack jokes with. They make our meaningless life meaningful, make our journey of life easier, joyous and vibrant. They never laugh at our mistakes instead, they lead us towards the right path by giving us continuous support.  Last but not least they share knowledge with you.
An exemplary form of friendship in India is that of Krishna and Sudama. A friend will never leave you in hard times of your life.  According to my teacher, a true friend will praise you and correct the flaws you may have.
A person without a friend is like walking without legs, eating without a mouth and speaking without a tongue. I have chosen my friends, and I know that I can trust them. What about you, have you discovered your true friends?
As Helen Keller said, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Walking with a friend in darkness is better than walking alone in light-Hellen Keller.

Life oh life

EXPLORING AND LIVING LIFE

Make peace with your past so it won't disturb your present

What other people think of you is none of your business.

No one is in charge of your happiness, except you.

Don't compare your life to others and don't judge them, you have no idea what their journey is all about.

Stop thinking too much, it's alright not to know the answers, they will come when least expected.

Smile because you don't own the problems in the world.

Some problems are not to be solved, but are to be left to mature, to be bearable

REFLECTIONS

 REFLECTIONS
It is quite enthralling to look back and summon up all the figments of the past; all its beauty and atrocity. All its victories and defeats –such is the thrill of high school.  Such zeal to reminisce only comes when one feels that they are about to complete a chapter in their life; and it is almost timefor me toclose my book.
However, I would not be at peace with myself had I not concluded my school year with a piece of writing where I could pour out my most heartfelt sentiments about Melvin Jones. Basically a tale of its undying need for discipline and its capability to mould and shape a course, unrefined student to a polished, confident individual!
As I think of the past, a nostalgic cloud covers my head and it fogs all of my once clear thoughts.it is such that makes me wish I could go back in time, parade myself in one of those grey plaid skirts and reconnect with my  faded navy blue sweater ,both of which I wore with an untold pride. My class was one of consistent racket but this noise bound us together, we became family; a dysfunctional one at that! We built, broke, treasured and brawled but I have a reason to be grateful for the scholarly advice that can only be provided by our teachers and elders.
Melvin has equipped me with the most effective methods ofexpressing myself whether it’s splashing paint on a creamy canvas or coordinating a comical skit. I believe that I have achieved! I have become the person that I wanted to be 7 years ago; a confident, motivated and focused lady. The institution taught me that I should never settle for less but always exert myself beyond all barriers and obstacles. I overcame all my fears and sky-rocketed past all my woes
Looking into the mirror, I see a future that is not ready for me.  But I am prepared for its hustle and all of its hurls because my journey is anchored on the simple foundations laid in MJLA. I am certain, that life beyond that black gate will be what I allow it to be. My future is so bright it outshines all cosmic forces. My reflections are therefore no longer remorseful or nostalgic, instead they have become memories of hopeful moments and delightful cheer. I stand tall and anxiously awaitmy IGCSE’s

Free to fly

                                                                    Free to fly
They judged
They manipulated
They scorned
You accepted their judgment
You succumbed to their leeching powers
You were left to piece yourself back together

But the saving grace is that
As they broke you
You became the architect
In restoring your entire being
You realized that you were the master of your own fate
And you CONQUERED

You lavished in your own successes
And took pride in every single fall you took
Because you knew that all these failures
Was part of an ingenious master plan
You expressed your emotions on paper
And the paper freed your spirit

And as you began to realize that you had become
You smiled at the faces that once drowned your ecstasy
You smiled because you had become a being worth recognition
You smiled because the chains that once held you had been broken
You smiled because you were free
Free to fly !

STANDING UP

STANDING UP FOR WHAT
YOU BELIEVE IN!
Everyone has their own beliefs, either related to religion, superstition and so on. But do they really make an effort to support and emphasise on what they believe in to convince others to believe in the same? Beliefs are not always true, and no one has proved till date all beliefs are false! Belief is the state of mind in which a person takes something to be the case, with or without there being empirical evidence to prove that something is the case with factual probability.
Everyone should have the full courage to be able to support their beliefs and one of the examples of a person who did this is our very own ‘Nelson Mandela’.
We all know people who are very adamant and vocal about sharing their beliefs; whenever you meet them in person, topics generally go straight to those causes, and if you are even remotely argumentative, you will spend the whole evening having a debate.
Some situations for which I think you need to support your beliefs are: When you can set an example, When the other person is on the fence about an issue, When you know the other party will be respectful even if they disagree, When you know you’ll feel guilty if you stay silent, When you’ve reached the point of ‘enough is enough’ and many other precise reasons.
I would like to conclude by quoting;
‘Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny’
So be kin, and follow what your heart says is the right path...

myths about teenage boys

Some  myths about teenage boys that need to be debunked:
1.“Boys will be boys” This statement that a boy will be a boy suggests that there is nothing we can do to change them and they are to some extent irredeemable. This is not true. The fact is that boys are smart and not always irrational or tough.
 2. “Boys don’t cry” This is not true. The fact is that boys have concerns about many things and definitely cry if something goes wrong.
 3. “Teenage boys do not do housework” The fact is that teen boys are fully capable of cooking their own meals, making their bed, and doing other household chores.
 4. "Teen boys are bound to drink" The truth is that not all teenagers drink alcohol. If your teenage boy stays out late at parties, that does not necessarily mean that he drinks alcohol.

5. They’re not emotional.

Boys have big feelings, just like girls do.  They absolutely do have strong feelings and can be very emotional.

6. They don’t like babies.

There’s some weird perception that babies are just for girls. Babies are for everyone!
7. Slugs and snails

Boys are nasty; girls are nice. This is a myth which should be discarded.

FAILURE

FAILURE
“The test of a man is the fight he makes,
The grit that he daily shows’;
The way he stands on his feet and takes
Fate’s numerous bumps and blows,
A coward can smile when there’s nought to fear.
When nothing his progress bears;
But it takes a man, a stand up, a cheer
While some others follow stars.

“It isn’t the victory, after all,
But the fight that a brother makes;
The man who, driven against the wall,
Still stands up erect and takes,
The blows of fate with his head held high:
Bleeding and bruised, and pale,
Is the man who’ll win in the by and by,
For he isn’t afraid to fail.

“It’s the bumps you get, and the jolts you get,
And the shocks that your courage stands,
The hours of sorrow and vain regret,
The prize that escapes your hands,
That tests your metal and proves your worth;
It isn’t the blows you deal with
But the blows you take on the good old Earth,
That show, if you are real!

ATTRACTIVE HORRORS

ATTRACTIVE HORRORS

A draught blew by me taking my spirit with it. The strands of my hair crossed my face; the sun peaked its way above the horizon as if it was scared to shed some light. The smell of the salty sea tingled in my nose as I breathed in a breath of fresh air. The sand was a minefield of corals, with a collection of many different multi-coloured seashells; however the sand was like a bed of royal blankets. It was the beach that my swift legs brought me to, a place out of anyone’s jurisdiction.  As far as I could tell, I was as liberated as the slaves in Lincoln’s time
The waves were singing to me a dulcet lullaby , making me reminisce my childhood and drawing me closer into them. The frigid waves penetrated my feet allowing me to drift further into its charm. Its calm movement entranced me and I waltzed with the waters of Lakewood Bay. As the waters deepened and thickened, my acidic stomach turned to its side as the pungent smell of decayed algae filled the air. The aroma aroused fear in my feeble being and for the first time, I felt the waves become restless.

Suddenly, I was engulfed in a swarm of angry –looking waves, all hurling insults of a watery fury at my face. Direction was not a priority when I swam off into the night. As if to my rescue, my eyes locked on a structure; an odd one I might add. The only memory after that was my surpressed frown reflected on the waves. I directed my attention to the building a shuffled

With a new wet perception of the beach, I pushed the heavy gates of cold iron which prevented me from the house inside which marked my shelter. I could feel the unevenness of the old, cobbled path beneath, its dislike for me was tangible. Carrying up on the path the grass carried on forever into the horizon, a dull, grey colour as if it had lost the will to live and stopped growing altogether
The air was cold and numb and with every breath, I drew a misty, chilly exhale. As the house drew nearer everything around me became quieter and more distant. From the outside, the house was tall and thin made from large, dark, grey stones that had a rough feel ; all of this sandwiched together my crumbling cement. Climber plants grew up the house winding around the drainpipes grabbing for the little sunlight that reached this desolate place. The door had been left ajar perhaps for many years , or maybe someone was already in there…

THE YOUNG ‘TURKS

      THE YOUNG ‘TURKS’:
“A TRUE REVELATION”
I strongly believe that the youth of our country and of the world at large should not have more influence on what happens in their lives, since parents hardly ever manage to spend enough time with them. In the great race of survival, most parents especially the ones who are trying to make their ends meet, work so hard to cater for their young ones in order to give them the best that they can. This makes them ignore their children and their needs. Thus leaving them at the mercy of the world,  its people and the environment in general.
Recent research in most newspapers and the media reveal the youth’s frustrations being vented out in actions such as burning their dormitories, labs and classrooms. This shows that such students were either not guided well by their parents, teachers and friends such that they fell victim to the wrong company; this is where parents should come in as consultants to their children to show them the difference between right and wrong.
Wisdom comes in the form of experience, and that exists in the minds of parents and not immature youth; that is why it is very important for parents to play advisory roles in guiding our youth towards their bright future. That will make them better prepared to face the challenges, trials and ordeals ahead of them…
