YOUTH IN THE CLAWS OF COMPUTER GAMES
Young
people view computer skills as an important part of their lives,
whereas parents and teachers are worried that these computers are
addictive and deprive children of their childhood.
To
begin with, young people learn these computer skills very quickly;
these skills are important requirements for any job application. These
computer games promote learning, for instance, they gain skills for
problem-solving alongside with the ability to discuss; they prompt quick
reactions, which means that emergencies can be attended to very
swiftly. Some games promote the values of caring and being responsible.
Others are interactive games which make young people aware of various
careers. Research has proven that computers promote better learning
because it is very challenging. Furthermore, they can bring a family
together in one room by playing group console games. Moreover, parents
are relieved from stress about where their children are or what they are
doing.
On the other hand,
there are some negative aspects attached to it. Destructive games have a
disastrous impact on children as they tend to become violent and
aggressive. These games are very expensive. Moreover, children never
step out of their houses to go and play outdoor games in the open air,
so they become unfit. Furthermore, they tend to increase distances
between family members as they tend to spend less time with each other.
Children tend to focus less on their education. Moreover, if they spend a
lot of their time in front of computers, on a daily basis, their health
will be affected.
To
conclude, every thing has its pros and cons. If utilised properly,
computers can play a major role in children's education and their
future, to a larger extent. However, if they are not used well, they can
prove to be destructive and can completely change children's lives for
the worst, with the presence of elements such as violence.
