STANDING UP

STANDING UP FOR WHAT
YOU BELIEVE IN!
Everyone has their own beliefs, either related to religion, superstition and so on. But do they really make an effort to support and emphasise on what they believe in to convince others to believe in the same? Beliefs are not always true, and no one has proved till date all beliefs are false! Belief is the state of mind in which a person takes something to be the case, with or without there being empirical evidence to prove that something is the case with factual probability.
Everyone should have the full courage to be able to support their beliefs and one of the examples of a person who did this is our very own ‘Nelson Mandela’.
We all know people who are very adamant and vocal about sharing their beliefs; whenever you meet them in person, topics generally go straight to those causes, and if you are even remotely argumentative, you will spend the whole evening having a debate.
Some situations for which I think you need to support your beliefs are: When you can set an example, When the other person is on the fence about an issue, When you know the other party will be respectful even if they disagree, When you know you’ll feel guilty if you stay silent, When you’ve reached the point of ‘enough is enough’ and many other precise reasons.
I would like to conclude by quoting;
‘Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny’
So be kin, and follow what your heart says is the right path...

myths about teenage boys

Some  myths about teenage boys that need to be debunked:
1.“Boys will be boys” This statement that a boy will be a boy suggests that there is nothing we can do to change them and they are to some extent irredeemable. This is not true. The fact is that boys are smart and not always irrational or tough.
 2. “Boys don’t cry” This is not true. The fact is that boys have concerns about many things and definitely cry if something goes wrong.
 3. “Teenage boys do not do housework” The fact is that teen boys are fully capable of cooking their own meals, making their bed, and doing other household chores.
 4. "Teen boys are bound to drink" The truth is that not all teenagers drink alcohol. If your teenage boy stays out late at parties, that does not necessarily mean that he drinks alcohol.

5. They’re not emotional.

Boys have big feelings, just like girls do.  They absolutely do have strong feelings and can be very emotional.

6. They don’t like babies.

There’s some weird perception that babies are just for girls. Babies are for everyone!
7. Slugs and snails

Boys are nasty; girls are nice. This is a myth which should be discarded.

“The test of a man is the fight he makes,
The grit that he daily shows’;
The way he stands on his feet and takes
Fate’s numerous bumps and blows,
A coward can smile when there’s nought to fear.
When nothing his progress bears;
But it takes a man, a stand up, a cheer
While some others follow stars.

“It isn’t the victory, after all,
But the fight that a brother makes;
The man who, driven against the wall,
Still stands up erect and takes,
The blows of fate with his head held high:
Bleeding and bruised, and pale,
Is the man who’ll win in the by and by,
For he isn’t afraid to fail.

“It’s the bumps you get, and the jolts you get,
And the shocks that your courage stands,
The hours of sorrow and vain regret,
The prize that escapes your hands,
That tests your metal and proves your worth;
It isn’t the blows you deal with
But the blows you take on the good old Earth,
That show, if you are real!

ATTRACTIVE HORRORS

ATTRACTIVE HORRORS

A draught blew by me taking my spirit with it. The strands of my hair crossed my face; the sun peaked its way above the horizon as if it was scared to shed some light. The smell of the salty sea tingled in my nose as I breathed in a breath of fresh air. The sand was a minefield of corals, with a collection of many different multi-coloured seashells; however the sand was like a bed of royal blankets. It was the beach that my swift legs brought me to, a place out of anyone’s jurisdiction.  As far as I could tell, I was as liberated as the slaves in Lincoln’s time
The waves were singing to me a dulcet lullaby , making me reminisce my childhood and drawing me closer into them. The frigid waves penetrated my feet allowing me to drift further into its charm. Its calm movement entranced me and I waltzed with the waters of Lakewood Bay. As the waters deepened and thickened, my acidic stomach turned to its side as the pungent smell of decayed algae filled the air. The aroma aroused fear in my feeble being and for the first time, I felt the waves become restless.

Suddenly, I was engulfed in a swarm of angry –looking waves, all hurling insults of a watery fury at my face. Direction was not a priority when I swam off into the night. As if to my rescue, my eyes locked on a structure; an odd one I might add. The only memory after that was my surpressed frown reflected on the waves. I directed my attention to the building a shuffled

With a new wet perception of the beach, I pushed the heavy gates of cold iron which prevented me from the house inside which marked my shelter. I could feel the unevenness of the old, cobbled path beneath, its dislike for me was tangible. Carrying up on the path the grass carried on forever into the horizon, a dull, grey colour as if it had lost the will to live and stopped growing altogether
The air was cold and numb and with every breath, I drew a misty, chilly exhale. As the house drew nearer everything around me became quieter and more distant. From the outside, the house was tall and thin made from large, dark, grey stones that had a rough feel ; all of this sandwiched together my crumbling cement. Climber plants grew up the house winding around the drainpipes grabbing for the little sunlight that reached this desolate place. The door had been left ajar perhaps for many years , or maybe someone was already in there…

THE YOUNG ‘TURKS

      THE YOUNG ‘TURKS’:
“A TRUE REVELATION”
I strongly believe that the youth of our country and of the world at large should not have more influence on what happens in their lives, since parents hardly ever manage to spend enough time with them. In the great race of survival, most parents especially the ones who are trying to make their ends meet, work so hard to cater for their young ones in order to give them the best that they can. This makes them ignore their children and their needs. Thus leaving them at the mercy of the world,  its people and the environment in general.
Recent research in most newspapers and the media reveal the youth’s frustrations being vented out in actions such as burning their dormitories, labs and classrooms. This shows that such students were either not guided well by their parents, teachers and friends such that they fell victim to the wrong company; this is where parents should come in as consultants to their children to show them the difference between right and wrong.
Wisdom comes in the form of experience, and that exists in the minds of parents and not immature youth; that is why it is very important for parents to play advisory roles in guiding our youth towards their bright future. That will make them better prepared to face the challenges, trials and ordeals ahead of them…

MIND OF A CROOKED TEENAGER

I lack self confidence; hence, I have lost some things which were supposed to be mine, by the virtue of going to get them.
In my few years of living , I found out that , not all things are brought to us, . It calls for us to sometime go get them.
Getting good friends , you must go get them. There is no way , you can befriend some one , when you can not go out to get them. You must seek their friendship – this can be both boys and girls.
Some things , calls you to go fight for them. For example, if you want to get the first team place in your soccer team, you must attend practices and fight so hard to be picked by the coach. Likewise , for you to pass your maths paper ,you must practice diligently otherwise , you will fail the exams.
Fight  to conquer
Ask to get

MIND OF A CROOKED TEENAGER

The crooked mind of a teenager is a troubled  mind indeed. it oscillate between the reality and the world of utopia. I  practice the Christian faith. Here we are told that , there will be  the judgement day , where the sinners will go to hell , while the  believers/ those who are pure will go to heaven.
We are also told that, god protects us  from evil and calamities. As He protects us , we are not supposed to suffer as we are under his protection.
But , this has not been the truth, as the suffering on this earth is just too much. Just look at some of the major conflicts which are happening in different parts of the world. Look at the inter tribal wars in south  sudan , Libya , Iraq , Syria ,Afghanistan ,Congo etc. if  really , god was the all protector , what happened , he seems not to notice , what is happening in these countries.

I know , am not supposed to question God, and religion for that matter , but with this world conflicts , the crooked mind wonders so much. Anybody there to clear my troubled mind.

MIND OF A CROOKED TEENAGER

My crooked mind some time wonders into unfamiliar territory of worrying so much about issues I cannot control. Some time, they overwhelm me, leaving me very exhausted . Can you imagine that ,I worry so much about dying !, I don’t want to die , but I have a premonition that , my days are not very far.

First am told , that death is inevitable , you have no control over it , it will come  when it wants. The kings , presidents and the very rich in the society do die, then why worry about it. I need to explain where this worry comes from. I had  this aunt of mine , who was very good to me. She used to live with us for quite some time . Indeed, since I was born , I have always been with her . she used to bath me , feed me  , and tell me good stories  about the toad and the hyenas. We could go shopping with her , and generally she was very protective of  us. My parents have always been busy with the business in town , hence our aunt has always been there for us.

I will never forget that, Monday evening , two years age. The weekend had been very interesting. My parents had gone away for the weekend, they told us they would be travelling to Nairobi  for a business trip but , our aunt would take us for an outing in a local restaurant for lunch on Saturday. Saturday came and it went well. Our aunt, after the outing brought us back to the house, in the evening she  prepared dinner for us , and thereafter we went to bed. Sunday , came , my sister  , me and our aunt , we went to church  , in the neighborhood. After church we came back home , for lunch  and later in the evening dinner was served. My parents had been delayed  in Nairobi , but they promised they would come by the following Tuesday. On Monday , it was a school day, our aunt woke us early in the morning to prepare for school. After the  breakfast, our aunt bid us  goodbye  , as we boarded the van which takes us to school.

In the evening , we boarded our usual van  to take us back home , after  a busy day in school. We reached our house, the gate was locked as usual, so I rung the gate bell  for quite some time  , but there was no respond. Our aunt , was nowhere to be seen, usually , every school day, in the evening , we always find our aunt waiting for us at the gate. Anyway so far , there was no panic , since in the past, sometime , our aunt had delayed in opening the gate. After  around  10 minutes of waiting , I decided to jump over our fence , as it was not very high.  The front door was locked as usual , so I went to try the back door, this is the kitchen door.  It was open , I entered , my aunt was not in the kitchen , but  she was sleeping on the sofa in the sitting room. At first , I thought she was sleeping , so I called her , there was no response. I went near her , with an intention to shake her awake. Her body was very cold, I panicked , I called her again , nothing  happened.  I shook her violently , hoping that she would respond , still nothing happened, this is when , I sensed that , this was not good . I run outside the house  , opened  the gate , without saying anything to my small sister at the gate, run to our immediate neighbor. He was a good man , who was always nice to us. We used to call him baba Stacy.  After telling him what I saw, we came together rushing to the house. After  , baba stacy brief review on our aunt, he called  the hospital at once . The ambulance arrived within 5 minutes. This is when , it dawned on me , maybe our aunt might be died. Indeed, the medics  confirmed to us , that our aunt had died some time earlier as her body was already cold.
This was my first encounter with the cruel hand of death. I kept wondering, how could my aunt die just like that, dying like a chicken!!!! She was never sick or complained of any illness. Could someone just die like that, without getting sick.
From that time , I came to know that , death is just on our finger nails , anybody can die at any time and age.

From that day, I HAVE BEEN A WORRIED BOY , wondering when this death could come for me,  and yet am not ready for it.

MIND OF A CROOKED TEENAGER

Hi guys , it’s the beginning of yet another holiday, thank god , it’s the end of term two, 2017 , can you imagine! , days are flying by, but not so fast, I want to be an adult , where I will have my independence. How I long for the day I will have my own money , house  and just freedom to do what I want. It’s coming , I believe very soon, but remember, am only 15.

The holidays , what am I to do?, I have a whole day to myself, today is Sunday the 3rd of April . we closed school on Friday the 1st of April. Was really looking forward to this holiday, now that it is within me , I don’t know what to do with it. But I must have a plan on how am going to spend the days , but  first , I will ask my parents tomorrow , Monday , if they have any plan for me, thereafter I can then , have a clear cut plan for the holiday.

But first things first, could we review the school term as it was. My term in school , that is Melvin Jones Lions Academy , was really very interesting. My academy life  was very challenging , I really dropped in my performance. Before I used to be top 20 in class, but for the last two terms in grade 9 , was not good. In first term I was position  24, while in the second term I become position 26. What really went wrong , am not sure , but I can guess. First , I got crazy friends to start with. There is this companion friend of mine, who is never keen on studies, he loves using computers and play stations, he introduced me into this habit , and I guess am hooked. Most of the weekends , we are either together at their house or mine busy playing computer games. In school , I have been distracted so much by the girls. I really don’t get enough of them. The bottom line is that the adolescent crisis is really on me. HELP , is needed here. were it not for sports in school , I guess I could have run away from these boring studies.

In my social life , I have not also performed well. I have been more of a follower than a leader. I have a number of friends , who have been keen to mislead me into temptations. The temptations ranges from the girls , to drug using and generally being mischievous. My class know me , as a naughty person , as I get involved with bad boys of our class. Anyway , we have a very strict class teacher , and I guess , this has helped us to shape up. I have been chasing this good looking girl , but am yet to be lucky. Other hyena boys seem to catch her eye more than me, I will keep trying maybe come next term , I may be good to go. In sports , I was lucky to join the school soccer team, I will try to keep the first team place by practicing very hard.

My intention , is to be sober  and on top of my game. I want to be  a master of my own destiny. I do not want  to be a follower but a leader in my own rights. Am told that , this is the best time to plan about my future, I intend to do so. Regardless of the distracters amongst us ,I will strive to follow a straight path, lay down my plan and follow it. i want to develop a strong personality.

One Love

ONE LOVE

One song can melt the heart,
One
voice makes a song.
One tree
makes a forest,
One
love can unite a nation.
One smile begins a conversation,
One flower can
brighten the room
One candle
brings light to a room,
One word can
unite people.
One vote can bring a revolution,
One
colour make a rainbow
One star can
brighten the sky,
One laugh will
bring happiness.
One leader, will unite the nation
One word
will start a conversation.
One
cry will start a war cry,
One
hope will inspire the crowd.
One step will start a safari.
One
soul is a unity,
One
death is a lose,
one at a time ,the key to success!

WORRY NOT

WORRY NOT

You look so composed, how did you manage it
Or how cool are you
or how calm are you
To try to carry other people’s burden is impossible
stressor are all over us, how do we manage them
Issues will have an end soon
But, tackle issues, one at a time,
 Until you overcome them
Worry now, but solve the issues calmly

FEAR-OUR ENEMY

FEAR-OUR ENEMY
Fear, you’ve had enough!
     Yes, we want to evade
Not the Reality but You.
We’ve been your slave for long,
But now we want to be free like birds,
To live, to dream and to fly towards success,
To see more of the good than the bad.
Ready we are to face the challenges,
To sail through the roughs and toughs,
With a yearning to reach our destinations.
Fear, Out you go from our hearts and minds;
We are no longer afraid nor your companions
For we know, we know
That God, our Messiah, is always there for us!

TO PLAY OR NOT TO PLAY

TO PLAY OR NOT TO PLAY

Most teenagers seek great amusement in playing video games, however this habit is causing rising concern amongst their parents. A majority of teenagers spending large portions of their time immersed into the virtual world of video games, where they fight villains and go on exciting missions. But when should we draw the line between innocent, fun and an alarming addiction?

Parent s believe that video games introduce teenagers to a world of violence, gore and explosions; a place completely unsuitable for them. Moreover the lack of physical activity and exercise amongst teenagers is also an issue for concern. Research has proven that the percentage of obese teenagers has risen at an alarming rate in the past decade. Video games discourage teenagers in participating in sports.

Teenagers have   become aloof and unsociable as a result of over indulgence in video games. They spend virtually all their time in this virtual endeavor.  Parents often complain that children would rather spend their time with their ‘digital friends’ rather than have a conversation with them.

However from a teenager point of view, video games are not the horrible monsters parents deem them to be . They are rather, an important part of growing up in today’s digital world. They believe that by playing Video games they will acquire the necessary computer skills much needed in securing job. They also believe that the skills will improve teenagers in tack, leadership, problem solving skills and critical thinking.

Further, video games create a platform whereby teenagers from across the globe can communicate with each other. In the world of video games, there is a place for everyone. Interactive games may actually help bring the family together.

In my view, video games, like everything else can be either good or bad depending on how one uses it. So as a teenager, take care!!!!!

MIND OF A CROOKED MIND

Wednesday, went well, apart from few issues brought about by mid terms exams.
I can not complain as I had prepared well for the Wednesday exams.
After the exams, I stayed in school until 5.00 pm. My best friend Tito had issues with a grade 7 boy. The argument was about, who was to be the likely winner of the English premier league. By the end of the argument no body seemed to convince the other. The grade 7 boy, was fronting for Arsenal as being the league winner, while my friend Tito was going with Chelsea.
My mind was still in wonderland, day dreaming. I had promised myself to clear the my mind log
soonest.
Guys, have few mental exercises which can help you to overcome negative thoughts.  I was taught by my teacher how to overcome this thought. As it benefited me, I guess I should share with you the same that you can also benefit from this exercise.
In the morning, the first thing after waking up, you need to go to the mirror and look at your image, start speaking to yourself. You need to motivate yourself. If this exercise is repeated over a duration of one month, I assure you, you will notice a transformed you. I am starting to appreciate myself and this is turning to be sometime positive in my life.
My crooked mind is directing me towards this beautiful girl. I call her zee. She is a quiet nice looking person. We do not share a class. She is one class behind me. She avoids me all the time; I guess she knows that I like her.
I lack the guts / courage to approach her. By the end  of today, I swear , I will have presented my cards ,I  hope I succeed.
Oh God things did not go as I expected.
At lunch hour, I send a word to zee that I would wish to talk to her.  My messenger was of course my best friend Tito. I had agreed to meet her at the school canteen at 4.00 pm. Sharp. I was early, by 3.30 pm I was already there; I waited for her until 4.45 pm. She never turned up. I don’t know if ever she received my message.
Over the weekend, am going to ask my friend Tito if he ever communicated my message. After 4.45 pm. I left the canteen area and went looking for her. I saw her playing basketball at the court. I gathered all my courage and went to where she was. Funny, she did not even look at me. It’s like nothing had happened. I wonder if she was ever told that I wanted to talk to her.
It’s after this, that I, dejectedly, went home to papa and mama.

What a promising day, that never was. I will fight another day, I comforted myself.

ATTITUDE AND THINGS RELATED TO IT

ATTITUDE AND THINGS RELATED TO IT

Attitude is simply a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person’s behavior. Most people say ‘my attitude is based on how you treat me’; and according to me, that phrase really does make sense! If a person does not give you any value then you should not care of what they think of you and carry on with life. Why should you care for someone so much if they do not care about you?

Secondly, people should always take their studies seriously and studies should be first in their list of the ‘scale of preference’. Individuals should always have a POSITIVE attitude towards their studies and subjects. At no point in time should one feel that their attitude towards a subject is negative from the others.

Attitude is an expression of favour or disfavor towards a person, place, thing or event. It is an individual’s predisposed state of mind regarding a value and it is precipitated through a responsive expression towards mostly a person, which in turn influence an individual’s thought and action.

Attitude and emotion work hand in hand with each other. Emotion is an affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, hate, or love is experienced, as   distinguished from cognitive and volitional states of consciousness.

A person’s attitude at times may depend on their mood or circumstance. You might not know what the person is going through in this kind of state; nor what they are thinking of. But if your bond with them is strong enough this might change something. “ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you REACT to it “

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

If you believe in yourself, know that you are on the right path; if you do not believe in yourself start believing in yourself; Believing in yourself will help you achieve a lot in life.
If you can imagine it , you can achieve it, if you can dream it , you  can do it;  that is possible only if you believe in yourself. Let me give you a quote.
“A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because her trust is not on the branch but on its own wings why?.... Because it believes in itself.”
Choose self esteem not self pity, choose to listen to your inner voice, not the random opinion of others; make decisions based on what you want, not on what others do.
If you believe in yourself you form positive attitude required to succeed in life and you let the negative thoughts fade away,  trust me you,  can do anything in this world if you believe in yourself .

Lesson 1

Lesson learnt
A turkey was chatting with a bull. “I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,” sighed the turkey, but I haven’t got the energy.”
“Well, why don’t you nibble on some of my droppings?” replied the bull. They’re packed with nutrients.”
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree - he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.
Moral of the story
Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you there

Decision making

As a teenager , i some time  want to be heard by the adults. Yes the grown ups around me , are  all knows, but , before , giving me directives, they would rather listen to me.

I do have my views, which , i know , can add into something, to the adults ........ directives.

We teenagers are not always wrong , we do not want to harm ourselves, we love ourselves, hence, given a chance , we can do pretty well , So give me a chance adults.

My motto this year 2017

To push those around me who are living to be the best version of themselves, so help me God.

Hi, it has been  few days, since , i chatted with you guys. i have been missing in action. Did i miss anything ?.

My life, so far has been very interesting these few days. I met some one , who made my life  a bit interesting. She is OK, but i will not talk so much about her until am quite sure she means something to me.

Last Friday , i overstretched my body while running for my house. I almost blacked out, , but anyway am a strong guy , i survived. I really enjoyed myself, guess i will take to running as a sport .

Crazy me, my mind sometime , overthinks, am on an overdrive thought...... but most of the thinking is so negative. Imagine , thinking about death, committing suicide, running away from, dating so many girlfriends etc, These negative thoughts overwhelms me, WHAT DO I DO GUYS...............

CALM IF YOU MUST, BUT DON'T GIVE UP.

CALM IF YOU MUST, BUT DON'T GIVE UP.

On dark days , oh God, I need some inspiration
When things are too hard to handle,
When the will is not there any more,
And you want to laugh, but you have to cry,
Calm if you must, but don't give up.

Life is a long turbulent journey that you must travel,
It starts easy but ,later in life it becomes very difficult
You fall but you must raise up and keep moving
Never give up , even if it hurts so much.
Calm if you must, but don't give up.

Will I ever reach my destination oh God ?
The distance seems to be so far away
Do I give up or I continue struggling
The victory is not very far, I pray
Calm if you must, but don't give up.

Success is here I can smell it
the sweet victory is a joy to me
Everybody is happy and celebrating with me
Never give up as the fruits of success is sweet
Calm if you must, but don't give up.

AN UNEXPECTED ORDEAL

AN UNEXPECTED ORDEAL

‘Watch your back’ your skin colour is enough for you to enrage them’ the shopkeeper advised me. I was petrified by his statement. Is this why my wife was killed? I had so many lingering questions running through my mind. I had to think quickly if I was to stay out of trouble.

As I padded away, little did I notice that the darkness of the night had dawn down its shady covers on the last of the fading light? Though only for a while did I feel at peace as the rusting of leaves being blown away on the empty streets added to the already peaceful environment. The odd breeze passed through bringing me out of trance. It was only then that I realized I had walked a long way alone and probably by passed the motel.

When this reality downed upon me I become panic stricken. My fingers become numb and my feet were cold. Was I lost in the big city? I mean, I had barely spent 48 hours here. This was too much to handle.

In a split of a second, the sirens and alarms of police cars could be heart from a distance. ‘What to do? I wondered, panic engulfed every single membrane within me as drips of sweat cascaded profusely my ruddy visage. As if bottled to the grand   my mobility was crippled, my mind rendered useless as I was not able to implement any thought that came through.
In the process of regaining  myself , I was  needless to say i was  surrounded by the police , I had lost all hope as there  was nowhere  to go,
